Busby’s Babes Remembered

On 6th February 1958 a BEA plane attempted its third takeoff run – unlike the previous too this one wasn’t aborted, and unllike the other two this attempt was going to end in disaster.  When leaving the runway the plane had hit a fence and then into a house.

Onboard amongst a number of journalists and United fans was arguably the most talented United team to grace the United shirt.  Eight of the twenty one that died made up the United team.  The crash aside from the human disaster, robbed the footballing world one of its most promising and talented teams.

Sir Matt Busby survived the crash and ten years later with the likes of Dennis Law and George Best went on to become the first English team to win the European Cup.
